Open Question: Review my Essay Please, grammatical and analysis to assertion?

Hello, my name is Andrew Sluschewski, a student from the International Academy of Macomb. The IAM is in Clinton Township, but my home district is Fraser, in the state of Michigan. As you know, our huge massed economy finally came to a hurdle. We cannot just jump over it, we need to step back, and think of a new way to get over our hurdle. Our economy is getting worse as we speak, and there has to be something done. Our economy is not the only subject that causes a huge discussion: there is also the ecology. As we pump and pump more harmful gases and use resources inefficiently, we damage our environment. In order to rebuild the United State’s economy and balance environmental problems, we should create a green economy, by producing energy efficient businesses, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and creating alternative fuels. We need to produce energy efficient businesses to boost our economy and balance our environmental problems. Michigan.gov has a guide to business owners to become energy efficient. To paraphrase their section on lighting, there are so many ways to lower costs. Businesses can even do small things like use energy efficient light bulbs (Michigan.gov 2003). Fluorescent lamps are about 10 times more efficient than the regular Incandescent lamps. These simple things can easily lower your utility bills and even make your customers and employees happier. Better lighting will make your product look a lot better than bad lighting. A success story was posted on the same website: “Fred Cochran, owner of Interiors by Casual Creations in Mary Esther, Florida, replaced 1754-lamp fluorescent fixtures with 2-lamp fixtures using energy efficient T-10, hi-lumen lamps. He cut his lighting bill in half, and the bright showroom brought many positive comments from customers. The improved lighting also invigorated the sales staff and raised productivity levels and morale” (Michigan.gov 2003). Not only did Cochran help the environment by creating an energy efficient business, but also he helped his business economically by saving money, money that goes straight to his bottom line. Cutting our costs, which helps our economy is important, but if we want to manage our ecology, we need to lower greenhouse gas emissions. Greenhouse gases are responsible for our greenhouse effect. It is important to have the sun’s rays to stay on the earth to keep our planet warm. According to the Energy Information Administration, the only problem is that “In computer-based models, rising concentrations of greenhouse gases produce an increase in the average surface temperature of the Earth over time. Rising temperatures may, in turn, produce changes in precipitation patterns, storm severity, and sea level commonly referred to as climate change” (Energy Information Administration). The United States, already signed the Kyoto Protocol to reduce greenhouse gas emissions relative to the levels of 1990 (Energy Information Administration). If we cut our emissions down even more, it will help prevent climate change and make a healthier planet. We should encourage the whole planet to reduce emissions, not just us, but we need to focus on our needs first. Creating alternative fuels will not only help our ecology, but it will help our economy. Fossil fuels are hurting our environment in so many ways. Fossil fuels are nonrenewable resources, which are depleting. The depleting resources are making production costs to increase dramatically. In simplest form, from Phillip Reed, “An alternative fuel is any fuel other than gasoline or diesel. Since many alternative fuels are also renewable — and can be produced here in the U.S. — they could reduce our dependence on foreign oil” (Reed 2009). Reducing dependence on foreign oil will lead to a whole earth going more and greener, since we are not buying as much. Some people will say we need to focus on our economy first and in the short term wait to help the environment, but the only answer is to balance both because as we focus on our economy, we damage our ecology and when we focus on our ecology we lose some of the economy. “The creation of millions of jobs are a likely result of the impact of the emerging global ”green economy” as the work force deals with the impacts of climate change says the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)” (McLamb 2009). If you really want to help our economy, start creating alternative fuels to create jobs and save our planet. By producing energy efficient businesses, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and creating alternative fuels, we should create a green economy, in order to rebuild the United State’s economy and balance environmental problems. Macomb Daily, I would like you to post an article about how we need to become a green economy. I hope that you express on how important both subjects of ecology and the economy really are. Thank you and I wish to see an article and your paper’s opinion on this topic. more

Resolved Question: Does anyone know Boateng Essien, of the international Commercial Bank,Kaneshie First Light Branch Accura Ghana?

He sent me an email and I'm thinking of investing with him. Does he have a good reputation - what do you recommend. Pardon me for not having the pleasure of knowing your mindset before making you this offer and it is utterly confidential and genuine by virtue of its nature. I am Mr Boateng Essien, the branch manager of the international Commercial Bank, Kaneshie First Light Branch Accra Ghana. I got your address from the Internet through the consultancy directory during my search for a reliable and honest person to transact this business with. I write to solicit your assistance in a funds transfer deal involving US$2,300.000.00. This fund has been stashed out of the excess profit made last year by my branch office of the International Commercial Bank of Ghana which I am the manager. I have already submitted an approved end-of-the-year report for the year 2008 to my head office here in Accra-Ghana and they will never know of this excess. I have since then, placed this amount on a Non-Investment Account without a beneficiary. Upon your response,I will configure your name on our database as holder of the Non-Investment Account. I will then guide you on how to apply to my head office for the Account Closure/ bank-to-bank remittance of the funds to your designated bank account. If you concur with this proposal, I intend for you to retain 30% of the funds while 70% shall be for me. Your earliest response would be appreciated on the regards. more

Resolved Question: China fueling Sri Lanka ethnic war making it more bloody for monetary gain,India must stop China interference?

China fuels Sri Lankan war Sri Lanka, the once self-trumpeted "island of paradise," turned into the island of bloodshed more than a quarter-century ago. But even by its long, gory record, the bloodletting since last year is unprecedented. The United Nations estimates that some 1,200 noncombatants are getting killed each month in a civil war that continues to evoke a muted international response even as hundreds of thousands of minority Tamils have fled their homes or remain trapped behind the front line. With the world preoccupied by pressing challenges, President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his brother, Defense Minister Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, a naturalized U.S. citizen, press on with their brutal military campaign with impunity. The offensive bears a distinct family imprint, with another brother the president's top adviser. Chinese military and financial support — as in Sudan, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Uzbekistan, North Korea, Burma and elsewhere — has directly aided government excesses and human rights abuses in Sri Lanka. But with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton publicly emphasizing that the global financial, climate and security crises are more pressing priorities for U.S. policy than China's human rights record, which by her own department's recent admission has "remained poor and worsened in some areas," Beijing has little reason to stop facilitating overseas what it practices at home — repression. Still, the more China insists that it doesn't mix business with politics in its foreign relations, the more evidence it provides of cynically contributing to violence and repression in internally torn states. Sri Lanka is just the latest case demonstrating Beijing's blindness to the consequences of its aggressive pursuit of strategic interests. No sooner had the United States ended direct military aid to Sri Lanka last year over its deteriorating human rights record than China blithely stepped in to fill the breach — a breach widened by India's hands-off approach toward Sri Lanka since a disastrous 1987-90 peacekeeping operation in that island-nation. Beijing began selling larger quantities of arms, and dramatically boosted its aid fivefold in the past year to almost $1 billion to emerge as Sri Lanka's largest donor. Chinese Jian-7 fighter jets, antiaircraft guns, JY-11 3D air surveillance radars and other supplied weapons have played a central role in the Sri Lankan military successes against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (or "Tamil Tigers"), seeking to carve out an independent homeland for the ethnic Tamils in the island's north and east. Beijing even got its ally Pakistan actively involved in Sri Lanka. With Chinese encouragement, Pakistan — despite its own faltering economy and rising Islamist challenge — has boosted its annual military assistance loans to Sri Lanka to nearly $100 million while supplying Chinese-origin small arms and training Sri Lankan air force personnel in precision guided attacks. China has become an enabler of repression in a number of developing nations as it seeks to gain access to oil and mineral resources, to market its goods and to step up investment. Still officially a communist state, its support for brutal regimes is driven by capitalist considerations. But while exploiting commercial opportunities, it also tries to make strategic inroads. Little surprise thus that China's best friends are pariah or other states that abuse human rights. Indeed, with its ability to provide political protection through its U.N. Security Council veto power, Beijing has signed tens of billions of dollars worth of energy and arms contracts in recent years with such problem states — from Burma and Iran to Sudan and Venezuela. In the case of Sri Lanka, China has been particularly attracted by that country's vantage location in the center of the Indian Ocean — a crucial international passageway for trade and oil. Hambantota — the billion-dollar port Chinese engineers are now building on Sri Lanka's southeast — is the latest "pearl" in China's strategy to control vital sea-lanes of communication between the Indian and Pacific Oceans by assembling a "string of pearls" in the form of listening posts, special naval arrangements and access to ports. China indeed has aggressively moved in recent years to build ports in the Indian Ocean rim, including in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Burma. Besides eyeing Pakistan's Chinese-built port-cum-naval base of Gwadar as a possible anchor for its navy, Beijing has sought naval and commercial links with the Maldives, Seychelles, Mauritius and Madagascar. However, none of the port-building projects it has bagged in recent years can match the strategic value of Hambantota, which sits astride the great trade arteries. China's generous military aid to Sri Lanka has tilted the military balance in favor of government forces, enabling them in recent months to unravel the de facto state the Tamil Tigers had run fo more

Resolved Question: anyone could help me edit my scholarship essay please?

the essay is due this Friday, which is very very important to me for applying scholarship. i have been looking for many of my friends to help me edit, but no one is available. could anyone can help me? i would be really appreciate. As an incoming freshman to college, I started considering my goal in the future. My mother inspired me to enter the medical field. She used to a doctor, by observing her helping many patients to regain their health. I wish that I could also help spread joy and comfort to others, just as she did. My volunteering experience at the local hospital also strengthened my belief. I come from a traditional Chinese family, we moved to the United States three years ago due to my father’s postdoctoral training. My mother has a part-time job at a supermarket. Therefore, our monthly income could only cover the basic housing and living expenses. I understand how expensive the medical school is, and my family’s income cannot cover majority of it. I have to take account of my family’s financial position, whenever I decide on college choices. Although I choose to go to the relative cheaper state university this fall, the tuition still is a problem. This is why I would like to apply to this scholarship. I realized that it was not easy to achieve my goal, becoming a successful doctor, so I try my best to challenge myself in various ways. Academically, I have been taking all the possible advanced placement courses in my school, such as biology, chemistry, calculus, American history, economics, humane geography, psychology, and statistics. Moreover, I helped my teacher create a syllable for the new AP psychology class by choosing the textbook, study guide and supplements. Eventually, I placed fourth place in psychology subject at the UNO district literacy rally, and will represent my school at the state competition. Additionally, I was selected to be the most outstanding chemistry student of the year and four-year honor roll student. Besides working hard academically, I am also an active member in many extracurricular activities. In the school, I am the vice-president of international culture union, encouraging more ESOL students to participate and share each other’s unique cultures. As the secretary of French club, I help arrange every meeting and organize the community service hours. Furthermore, I tutor math during lunchtime four times a week at the National Honor Society, as well as plan school-wide events in the student council. I also take part in some academic-related activities, such as science Olympiad, Mu Alpha Theta, and the engineering club. Outside the school, I volunteer at the hospital, work at local business, and participate in a pathology mentorship. I am not sure whether I am the most deserving candidate to receive this scholarship, but if I had the honor to be rewarded, I would use this scholarship money for my undergraduate school in order to pursue my medical career in the future. more

Resolved Question: College senior graduating and feeling highly discouraged and lost, suggestions greatly needed?

I am graduating college in a month, and I am highly discouraged and I don’t know what to do. I have a major in communications and an international business minor, with a lot of experience I feel. I studied abroad, completed 2 internships, and worked at my university’s admissions office. I am having no luck in finding a job whatsoever, and part of the problem is nothing sounds all that appealing to me. I’ve been applying to a few positions everyday, mostly paid internships, but not having any luck. I never thought that I would get stuck working in an office from 9-5, but those are the only jobs that I am able to find that fit my degree. I don’t really want to work just as a waitress or in sales either. Most companies aren’t even hiring right now, and I’m really questioning if I even want to do business. In fact I am 95% that I won’t be happy the rest of my life doing that/sitting in an office working 9-5 all day. I’m not ready to be “settled down” and working yet, I like variety, and I love to travel, but again that costs money. I’m also not in a serious relationship or anything anymore either so I feel like there’s no focus in my life and nothing guiding me to a certain location or direction. Part of it is, I don’t know what I even want to do, everything sounds so boring other than unrealistic things like being an actress or traveling photographer. The only job that I can truly see myself doing and being content is being a student advisor and a professor. The only way to get there though is graduate school. However, I applied to two graduate programs, and spent a lot of time on my application, and I didn’t get in. The programs that I applied for were really competitive. At the same time, I’m somewhat ready for a break from school. UGH! What do I do?? more

I am trying to study for my international business test, and I can't even figure out what a currency bloc is, or the answer to the rest of the question. His notes are laid out pretty poorly and I'm getting very lost in the whole study guide. more

Resolved Question: How deep is your role in a company as an intern?

I am a first year communications and international relations major. I have finished my internship at an NGO and decided to work for a health care service company that specializes in massage therapy until the start of my third semester to gain more experience and earn some extra income. Apart from my boss and his partner we are all interns! He claims that he is taking us under his wing and is guiding each of us in our respective fields, but he makes us do everything in his company. And most of us are biting more than we can chew. As a communications intern I agreed to translate the company's website into two different languages and to write articles for magazines and newspapers about the company's health care sessions and courses. But he wants me to book radio and tv interview and make a deal with the ministry of tourism so that they promote his company to tourists. He also wants me to work on the company's pamphlets and flayers as well as help other interns write articles. Furthermore he is disappointed that my articles have not been published by a major newspaper. I believe most newspapers require the company to pay for the space of their advertisements, but he wants them for free. So i have to email and fax the adverts and hope that the newspaper has a spare space somewhere, but so far i have not had any luck. The business, management and multimedia interns all have to "multitask" as well, even if it is not related to their field of study. I have tried my best to accomplish the tasks set in the contract as well as the other ones but he has complained that my work has not produced any real income for the company. Are interns usually expected to generate income for the business or institution they are working for? I think my boss is abusing his power over us. He repeatedly threatens us that he will not write a recommendation letter nor an evaluation letter for their university. He also reduces our monthly allowance by 30% to 50 % when he is not satisfied with our work. Some of the interns have complained to their colleges. Lecturers have met with my boss but he usually fires the interns a few days later or they quit by themselves. He then quickly finds new ones to replace them. Is there any way that I can prevent this unfair treatment towards my fellow students and towards myself? To put the icing on the cake, the place where i work is very dirty. There are piles of papers everywhere, the desks are dusty, the carpets are dirty and there are cockroaches! Sometimes they crawl on my desk or on my feet. I spray my working area and wear bug repellent, but it doesn't really help. Don't these sanitary conditions break the health laws? During my second semester, i wrote articles for a college newspaper that is distributed to several colleges and universities around the city . I was thinking of writing an article on this internship experience for my college newspaper after i finish my term with the company so as to warn others and expose the company's ill treatment. Are there any ethical issues that would prevent me from writing about it because I was a former intern there? thanks more

Resolved Question: International moral rating for business is it a good idea ?

If a system were introduced where products and companies had a mandatory moral rating attached would this bring more fairness and responsibility to the world For example if your business used slave or child labor or paid below average wages or over paid directors or harmed the environment promoted inequality etc it would be given a low moral rating If your business was environmentally friendly promoted fairness and equality and put some of its profit into public works etc it would be given a high moral rating There could be a system where every product should display a label with its moral rating and a website you could go to check the a company’s moral rating and all advertising should also display the company’s rating Would peer pressure guide people into buying products and services with a high moral rating everyone should theoretically benefit apart form greedy corporations and exploitations would be reduced and the environment would benefit alsoThis rating would be internationally agreed cross faith regulated by an independent committee a basic set of moral standards anyway this rating would be a GUIDE not law! it would be a persons free choice to buy whatever rated product they like it’s the company’s morals that would be judged not the customer more

Also, I am thinking of taking the test this summer (not yet obtained my degree). I know the pay scale is higher with a degree, but how can I find exactly how much? I found one pay scale chart on the State Dept. website, but it just gives the G ratings, but I couldn't find any explanation of how they determine their ratings. 1)) How would pay differ having a 4 year degree, from not having a degree? . Resolved Question: Can you please please assist me with some advice. Please and thanks. Ten points to most helpful answer?

I’m having some major difficulties with what major to choose. Please please please please do not advise me to take up general ed courses, if you are, then please please don’t bother answering! Don’t mean to sound rude, but just hear me out first. For the longest time, I wanted to major in International Business, but then I asked around and did more research and eventually came to know that all the international business courses are theory. Having found this out, I diverted away from this major. But now for some reason I have reverted back to this major. The problem is I want to major in something fun and interesting. I have considered so many different careers but still can’t come to terms with that I really want to do. All I know is that I want to travel the world and become successful. Once again, I just want to major in something that will give me the opportunity to find an exciting and interesting job. I also do know that you have to master 1-2 languages in order to be successful with an International Business degree. I have also considered technology, but I just can’t figure out what in technology. Also, which degree will be hot in the future..international business or finance? I do know for a fact that in academia and the real world jobs, the ones that are really exciting and interesting are few and far between and seldom do they pay well. Anyway, I think I just have to come to terms with the fact that the working world just isn’t that interesting or exciting. I guess it’s called “work” and not “play” for a reason, lol. If you can somehow guide me, please do so. THANKS! more

Resolved Question: i need someone to help me put this in my "own words" (:?

The legal system affects nearly every aspect of our society, from buying a home to crossing the street. Lawyers form the backbone of this system, linking it to society in numerous ways. They hold positions of great responsibility and are obligated to adhere to a strict code of ethics. Lawyers, also called attorneys, act as both advocates and advisors in our society. As advocates, they represent one of the parties in criminal and civil trials by presenting evidence and arguing in court to support their client. As advisors, lawyers counsel their clients about their legal rights and obligations and suggest particular courses of action in business and personal matters. Whether acting as an advocate or an advisor, all attorneys research the intent of laws and judicial decisions and apply the law to the specific circumstances faced by their clients. The more detailed aspects of a lawyer’s job depend upon his or her field of specialization and position. Although all lawyers are licensed to represent parties in court, some appear in court more frequently than others. Trial lawyers, who specialize in trial work, must be able to think quickly and speak with ease and authority. In addition, familiarity with courtroom rules and strategy is particularly important in trial work. Still, trial lawyers spend the majority of their time outside the courtroom, conducting research, interviewing clients and witnesses, and handling other details in preparation for a trial. Lawyers may specialize in a number of areas, such as bankruptcy, probate, international, elder, or environmental law. Those specializing in environmental law, for example, may represent interest groups, waste disposal companies, or construction firms in their dealings with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other Federal and State agencies. These lawyers help clients prepare and file for licenses and applications for approval before certain activities may occur. Some lawyers specialize in the growing field of intellectual property, helping to protect clients’ claims to copyrights, artwork under contract, product designs, and computer programs. Other lawyers advise insurance companies about the legality of insurance transactions, guiding the company in writing insurance policies to conform to the law and to protect the companies from unwarranted claims. When claims are filed against insurance companies, these attorneys review the claims and represent the companies in court. Most lawyers are in private practice, concentrating on criminal or civil law. In criminal law, lawyers represent individuals who have been charged with crimes and argue their cases in courts of law. Attorneys dealing with civil law assist clients with litigation, wills, trusts, contracts, mortgages, titles, and leases. Other lawyers handle only public-interest cases—civil or criminal—concentrating on particular causes and choosing cases that might have an impact on the way law is applied. Lawyers are sometimes employed full time by a single client. If the client is a corporation, the lawyer is known as “house counsel” and usually advises the company concerning legal issues related to its business activities. These issues might involve patents, government regulations, contracts with other companies, property interests, or collective bargaining agreements with unions. A significant number of attorneys are employed at the various levels of government. Some work for State attorneys general, prosecutors, and public defenders in criminal courts. At the Federal level, attorneys investigate cases for the U.S. Department of Justice and other agencies. Government lawyers also help develop programs, draft and interpret laws and legislation, establish enforcement procedures, and argue civil and criminal cases on behalf of the government. Other lawyers work for legal aid societies—private, nonprofit organizations established to serve disadvantaged people. These lawyers generally handle civil, rather than criminal, cases. Lawyers increasingly use various forms of technology to perform more efficiently. Although all lawyers continue to use law libraries to prepare cases, most supplement conventional printed sources with computer sources, such as the Internet and legal databases. Software is used to search this legal literature automatically and to identify legal texts relevant to a specific case. In litigation involving many supporting documents, lawyers may use computers to organize and index material. Lawyers must be geographically mobile and able to reach their clients in a timely matter, so they might use electronic filing, web and videoconferencing, and voice-recognition technology to share information more effectively. 10 points to the first use-able answer (: thanks in advance* more

Resolved Question: PLEASE PLEASE help me asap! thanks sooo much. ten points to most helpful answerer!?

I'm a recent high school grad and have don't really have an interest in anything. Please don't say take a couple of classes in college to see what interests you. I KNOW THAT!!! :D I'm sick and tired of hearing that over and over and over again. I need some real answers here. I am looking for a fun and exciting career. I don't want a traditional 9-5 office job or anything, I want an adventurous job that will allow me to travel the world. I don't want to be a pilot or travel agent though. I want it to be well paying job, not a tour guide or anything. I knwo for sure I'm not cut out for math and science, so I'm kind of thinking business might be ideal for me...say International Business. I'm the type of person who knows when I don't like something and I know that I don't like anything because I've done tons and tons of research on every single job and career. I've also taken plenty of classes in anything that I think may interest me. I'm also trying to figure out what some hot careers are in the future, but everything that is going to be hot and growing includes: IT and health, which I obviously don't like. I know you might be thinking, why doesnt' she figure it out on her own, but come on I really need some help here. I was home schooled, so don't really have any guidance. I just want to know of some unique, fun, adventurous, travel filled and exciting jobs that are going to be hot in the future. I know you're probably going to say, follow your heart......but I really don't know. PLEASE PLEASE help me. more
